WHY: The recent spring storms drove water levels dangerously high in reservoirs, rivers, creeks and streams. Even though the storm pattern has given way to nicer weather, the pressure on the water storage system and levees remains high, due to a massive snow pack ready to melt in the Sierra. Secretary Kawamura and Senator Denham will speak of the importance of continued preparation for flooding throughout the Spring.
