Meeting scheduled for January 26, 2011 in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, January 24, 2011 – The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will discuss the CDFA budget and funding for the network of California fairs at its January 26, 2011 meeting in Sacramento. The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture, 1220 N Street – Main Auditorium, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The state board will also hear from Craig M. Wilson, the State Water Resources Control Board’s Delta Watermaster, on the recently released report focusing on agricultural water use efficiency. Recommendations within the report call for a pilot study(s) regarding conserved water transfers, utilization of the reasonable use doctrine to promote efficient agricultural water use and streamlining of procedures for enforcement action.
The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and secretary of food and agriculture of findings as they impact agriculture and consumer needs. The board conducts forums that bring together local, state, and federal government officials, agricultural representatives, and citizens to discuss current issues of concern to California agriculture.
