Dr. Jeff Dlott — EFA SAP
Dr. Jeff Dlott is the COO at LandScan and Chair, California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Environmental Farming Act Science Advisory Panel (EFA SAP). He has more than 30 years of experience in agricultural and social sciences, software and hardware technologies, and public-private partnerships with broad stakeholder engagement. His clients and pro bono service spans the agrifood value chain including fresh produce companies, food service providers, consumer packaged goods companies, trade associations, universities, NGOs, State and Federal governments, hundreds of US wineries and vineyard operations, and thousands of California farming operations in fruit, nut, and vegetable cropping systems.
LandScan is an AgTech startup that has developed a unique site characterization and analysis system based on Digital Soil Core™, Digital Vegetation Signature™, and Root Cause Analytics technologies to produce a digital twin of the soil environment and its relationship with crop health, performance, and management. This technology opens the frontier to close productivity gaps and increase climate resilience. The team includes curious and passionate engineers, scientists, and boots-on-the ground agronomists delivering climate smart objective, repeatable, and scalable decision support tools to truly optimize irrigation, nutrient management, soil health, and more. Dr. Dlott leads operations.
Previously, Dr. Dlott served as President of SureHarvest, a company he founded and ran for more than twenty years that in 2019 became the sustainability software and services division of Where Food Comes From Inc (WFCF, Nasdaq). He earned his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management for his work in insect ecology, biological control, and participatory social science research with California peach, plum, and nectarine farmers in Fresno and Tulare Counties.
