Healthy Soils Program Incentive Grants
The Healthy Soils Program Incentive Grants are part of the Healthy Soils Program (HSP), which stems from the California Healthy Soils Initiative, a collaboration of state agencies and departments that promotes the development of healthy soils on California's farmlands and ranchlands.
The Healthy Soils Program Incentive Grants provide financial incentives directly to California growers and ranchers to implement conservation management practices that sequester carbon, reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs), and improve soil health.
What's new with Healthy Soils Program Incentive Grants?
7/11/2024: Please be advised that the State Budget recently approved by the Legislature does not provide funding for the Healthy Soils Program for the fiscal year 2024-25.
6/28/2024: Most of this year's HSP Incentive Grant Solicitation awards have now been offered, although a smaller amount of additional funding may become available in coming months. Applicants who have not yet received a message about their application may still be considered.
Since the expected funding for HSP Incentive Grants was significantly reduced in the fall, the record demand for projects this year exceeded the funding available by at least 8x. Many projects that were ranked as high-priority could not be funded.
Thank you to all the applicants who showed their interest in adopting new conservation agricultural practices.
