Launder clothes in a washer and dryer to kill any germs. Be sure to wear freshly laundered clothes upon entering your bird area. | |

This flock owner has many birds, and
he values them a lot, so he takes extra biosecurity precautions at the entrance
to his bird area. Here, he keeps a container with clean coveralls and a
pair of shoes that he only wears when he is in the bird area. Then when
he leaves, he returns the dedicated shoes and the coveralls to the container,
ready to use the next time he crosses the line from clean and dirty. As much as possible, wear clean clothes and footwear when you are going to have contact with your birds. Also, it's very important to wash your hands frequently, especially if you expect to handle your birds. |
