Take time to protect your birds. Bacteria and viruses will die in time, especially if they are exposed to sunlight and heat. So, if possible, try not to have contact with your birds for at least two days after being around other poultry that are at high risk for disease.

If you take birds to a show or event, isolate them from your flock for at least three weeks. Do the same when adding new birds to your flock. This gives time for the germs to die before they can make the rest of your birds sick.
