Grooming

If you go to a professional groomer, select a groomer who practices good biosecurity. A good groomer will:
  • Disinfect their hands before and after handling each bird.

  • Sterilize cutting or clipping instruments before and after clipping wings or trimming nails.

  • Use clean holding towels with each bird.

  • Groomers should not use "holding" cages for the birds to be worked on.

  • Keep your bird in its own cage.

Even with these precautions, you should disinfect your
hands, shoes and cage once you arrive at home.

  a) Provide their services for free.
  b) Medicate your birds.
  c) Disinfect their hands, sterilize tools, and use clean holding towels with each bird.
  d) Teach your bird to speak.
