Technical Assistance

Office of Agricultural Resilience and Sustainability

OARS works with organizations around California to provide one-on-one support to farmers and ranchers as they strive to increase the resilience and sustainability of their farming operations. Technical assistance providers (TAPs) offer many services to producers from consulting on project design to developing a conservation plan, providing grant writing and project management services. Technical assistance bridges the gap for producers from their farm to the financial resources and other tools provided by OARS.

OARS believes that it’s especially critical to provide technical assistance to underserved and small producers, those that may need translation services, or those lacking the financial resources needed to hire consultants. California’s Farm Equity Act calls on CDFA to ensure that all producers, including socially disadvantaged producers, have access to CDFA’s programs.
