Climate Smart Agriculture Technical Assistance Program - Providers

Office of Agricultural Resilience and Sustainability

Without the partnership of organizations around the state, OARS could not effectively reach California’s producers with financial assistance, tools, and research findings. Technical assistance providers (TAPs) are the boots on the ground, providing guidance and critical services to producers, supporting them as they seek funding and try new practices. TAPs have the opportunity to build long-standing trusted relationships within their local farming community – this trust is a secret ingredient necessary for the success of OARS climate smart agriculture programs.

California Resource Conservation Districts, public university extension, and non-profit organizations serve in the roles of technical assistance providers and are eligible to receive funding through OARS Technical Assistance programs. Currently OARS has three programs that provide funding to TAPs.

The Climate Smart Agriculture Technical Assistance Program TAPs provide application and implementation support to producers that wish to participate in OARS on-farm incentive programs.
Conservation Agriculture Planning Grants Program TAPs work with producers to develop conservation plans, outlining the resource concerns on their farm and strategizing on practices to meet their sustainability goals.
Water Efficiency Technical Assistance TAPs provide irrigation system evaluations and pump efficiency tests to help producers be efficient with water and energy use.
