Fredrick Gomez

Fredrick attended the Community College of the Air Force, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and Arizona State University where he received his B.S. in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering Technology before starting his IT career. His interest in aeronautics/aerospace was inspired while serving in the U.S. Air Force, working on Fighter Jets and Cargo aircraft. After his military career, he worked for several aerospace companies including Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon Aerospace, General Dynamics, and Dynatec International before joining the Civil Service at McClellan AFB. Following the McClellan AFB realignment and closure, he was given the opportunity to retrain in the Information Technology industry.

His IT experience and educational background that support his 24-year career include receiving his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification, Networking+, Computer Associates A+, and Computer Systems/Applications certifications. His IT career path began in 2000 in the private sector holding various positions of increasing responsibility for several companies including the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Army Corps of Engineers, Dunmore Homes, and Verizon before joining the State as a consultant with the Office of Systems Integration in 2007. He then joined the California Employment Development Department as an Infrastructure Lead and Supervisor. Subsequently, he held positions at Caltrans as the Infrastructure Chief, before being appointed as the CIO and IT Director for the California Public Utilities Commission. He then returned to Caltrans as the Chief of the IT Strategy Management Office. In June 2024, he joined the California Department of Food & Agriculture as the Agency Information Officer and the Information and Technology Services Director.

Fredrick is a graduate of the State’s IT Leadership Academy. He is honored to have worked in both the public and private sectors. His journey has allowed him to gain valuable experience and foster great working relationships. He finds fulfillment in building strategic partnerships, resolving customer issues, and providing exceptional customer service.
