Pest and Damage Record (PDR) Database
Any plant, insect, or plant pathogen submitted to CDFA from state, federal, and local agencies, land managers, or members of the public is identified by the Plant Pest Diagnostics Laboratory scientists and a Pest and Damage Record (PDR) is created for all samples submitted for identification. A completed PDR is the official document for export certificates; regulatory actions such as treatment activities, hold notices, establishment of quarantines; and species occurrence and distribution within the state.
Multiple divisions within CDFA, California Agricultural Commissioners (CACs), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), other state agencies such as CalFire and Department of Fish and Wildlife, as well as other research partners, currently input and track data in the PDR database.
PDAS assist in the maintenance of PDR database user accounts and manage the quality control and sharing of PDR data.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services
As the main GIS unit for CDFA, PDAS collaborate with different CDFA programs, as well as county and federal cooperators, in the development of mission-critical spatial tools using the ArcGIS Online platform. PDAS also publish and maintain both internal and public spatial data sets of relevance to the Plant Health division.
