Nursery, Seed, and Cotton Program

The Nursery, Seed, and Cotton Program is a group of industry-funded programs that work to ensure the quality and orderly marketing of nursery stock, seeds, and cotton in California.

Nursery Services Program

Established in 1922, the Nursery Services Program works with nurserymen, growers, County Agricultural Commissioners and other regulatory agencies to ensure the proper inspection, production, shipping, and handling of nursery stock in California. Funded primarily by license and registration fees, these nursery regulatory activities are an integral part of the Department's efforts to prevent pests from being disseminated throughout the State and harming agriculture, our communities, and the environment.

Seed Services Program

The Seed Services Program helps to protect seed consumers by ensuring that seeds sold in California are labeled properly and are not a source of noxious weeds. Having an orderly marketplace for seed is essential for the success of California's agricultural industry.

San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton District

The San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton District was established to ensure that California's Central Valley continues to produce some of the highest quality cotton in the world. The San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton Board also evaluates promising new cotton varieties developed by both public and private breeders through its ongoing variety testing program.

California Fruit Tree, Nut Tree, And Grapevine Improvement Advisory Board

The California Fruit Tree, Nut Tree, and Grapevine Improvement Advisory Board (IAB) was established in 1988 to promote the production of high quality tree and grapevine nursery stock. The IAB is funded through an assessment paid by producers of deciduous pome and stone fruit tree, nut tree, olive tree, and grapevine nursery stock.
