Detector Dog Mila

Mila, a 3 year-old black lab, is Contra Costa County’s newest agricultural detection dog. Mila was born on February 25, 2022, here in California, and was hand-picked in 2024 by a former agricultural detection dog handler who knew she had exactly what it takes to be a superstar sniffer. With her boundless energy and eagerness to please, Mila quickly proved herself to be a natural fit for agricultural detection work.

Now serving as a detection dog, Mila thrives in her role, using her strong drive and enthusiasm to sniff out unmarked agricultural packages in parcel facilities. Her focus and determination make her a valuable member of the team. She loves having a job to do and is always ready to put her nose to work.

Off the clock, Mila is just as busy channeling her endless energy into her favorite hobbies: playing fetch, swimming, and running on her doggy treadmill. She’s also a pro at handing out her signature face kisses to anyone lucky enough to be in range. Her favorite toys include her Kong wubba and her ball, which she’ll never turn down for a game of fetch.
